Senior Planner

What we need:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and commercially minded person to join our team. Ideally you are a town planner with in excess of 5 years experience in a development control environment, preferably with the most recent being in private practice. A good knowledge and understanding of planning policy and development control is essential.

You will work on a range of assignments and general enquiries, prepare feasibility studies, manage your own planning applications and promote appeal cases, including hearings and Inquiries. You will also be required to work as part of a team to tender and make presentations for the larger scale developments. You will need to attend and lead meetings, for your own projects and occasionally on behalf of the directors. The nature and complexity of the work is diverse and will broaden your skills and knowledge.

Duties and responsibilities of the job:

  • Promote a scheme at a hearing or as an Expert Witness at Inquiry
  • Undertake public consultation workshops
  • Prepare and make tender presentations
  • Leading and co-ordinating planning projects
  • Thoroughly research planning histories, policies and land uses
  • Lead and co-ordinate planning projects
  • Attend site visits and planning committee meetings
  • Prepare and submit planning applications
  • Proactively monitor the progress of planning applications
  • Prepare letters of objection
  • Negotiate the resolution of planning issues and S106 requirements with the Council and client
  • Clearly articulate your views and the scheme specific policy requirements to architects, transport consultants, arboriculture consultants etc to ensure the proposal is in compliance with local planning policy
  • Prepare development feasibility appraisals
  • Manage your own projects and assist the team when required
  • Assist in delivering and meeting marketing objectives of the company
